The 29th Annual Dr. Dan Cruz Memorial Prosthodontic Lecture: Improving Implant Practice & Restorative Skills Through Scientific Inquiry, Part 1
Thursday, April 3
9 AM - Noon
3 CDE Credits – DDS, DH, DA
COURSE DESCRIPTION:
What are the reasons implants work, and why do they fail? Clinically applicable research will discuss how to determine if an implant is healthy or diseased. Is cement retained better than screw retained? When should each type of restoration be used? Are the implant companies giving us solutions, or do they make problems with their knowledge or lack of knowledge? How useful are radiographs? Should you probe around implants? These questions and many others will be discussed.
Course Objectives:
1. Learn how to monitor implants.
2. Understand the diagnostic usefulness of radiographs, probing and other methods.
3. Understand why excess cement can lead to implant disease even though we have been using this technique for 100 years on natural teeth.
4. Understand the restorative issues that lead to peri-implantitis and the solutions.
