COURSE DESCRIPTION:
There are many factors that can influence proper development of the dental arches. Issues related to breathing and premature loss of teeth can influence ideal development. In this presentation, Clarice Law Eyre will review craniofacial and dental growth and development and talk about the deviations that may occur when there are not ideal conditions.
Course Objectives:
1. Review growth and development of the craniofacial complex.
2. Summarize the literature related to pediatric sleep disordered breathing.
3. Discuss identification of at-risk patients.
4. Assess the impact of premature space loss.
5. Analyze the benefits and pitfalls of new and tried-and-true space maintainers.
6. Consider case studies featuring effective space loss and regaining strategies.
PRESENTER:
Clarice Law Eyre, DMD, M.S.
Clarice Law Eyre received her DMD from Harvard School of Dental Medicine and completed specialty training in pediatric dentistry and orthodontics at UCLA School of Dentistry. She invested the first two decades of her academic career teaching both specialties to dental students and residents at UCLA, with the goal of promoting comprehensive care of the child patient. In 2022, Law Eyre moved from Los Angeles, California, to Memphis, Tennessee, to take on the role of chair and associate professor in the Department of Pediatric Dentistry and Community Oral Health at the University of Tennessee Health Sciences Center College of Dentistry.
