HANDS-ON WORKSHOP: Guided Surgery

COURSE DESCRIPTION: 

This hands-on session will be an extension of the morning session on guided surgery. The lecture component will expand on the different guided drill kits available with nuances of each type of system.

We will watch guided surgery videos of fully guided and pilot-guided surgery, followed by hands-on experience using a keyed system with both fully-guided and pilot-guided protocols, inclusive of exercises to review some of the common challenges experienced during implant placement.

Course Objectives:
1. Become comfortable using a pilot-guided and fully-guided protocol with a keyed-guided system.
2. Understand the different surgical drill systems available on the market and differences in use of those systems during the drilling and final fixture placement steps of the process.
3. Troubleshoot fixture insertion challenges during implant placement.

PRESENTER:

Erik Solberg, DDS, DABOI, FAAID, FICOI, MaCSD

Erik Solberg, DDS, DABOI/ID, FICOI, MACSD, graduated from the University of Minnesota before completing an AEGD at Idaho State University and a full-time implant fellowship program at Southern Illinois University. He has obtained Diplomate status from the ABOI and Fellow status from the AAID and the ICOI.

For the last decade, Solberg has concentrated his practice to implant dentistry and surgery. Teaching is a true passion, which he does as an adjunct assistant professor for the Prosthodontics Department at the University of Minnesota and through Paragon Implant Academy in Minneapolis.
