Guided Implant Surgery: Is It Always a Slam Dunk?

COURSE DESCRIPTION:
As with any discipline in dentistry, you need a repeatable, accurate process for guided surgery. This lecture will touch on what data is needed for proper diagnoses and planning and how to ensure it is obtained properly. We will also review guide design principles, the positives of guided surgery with case review of ideal outcomes and will call out 15 specific possible obstacles to be aware of when completing guided surgery.
Course Objectives:
1. Prevent problems from occurring during guided surgery by obtaining proper data sets prior to your surgery day.
2. Appreciate the positive outcomes available with guided surgery.
3. Review drawbacks and pitfalls of guided surgery to be better prepared for them if they happen in your practice.

PRESENTER:
Erik Solberg, DDS, DABOI, FAAID, FICOI, MaCSD
Erik Solberg, DDS, DABOI/ID, FICOI, MACSD, graduated from the University of Minnesota before completing an AEGD at Idaho State University and a full-time implant fellowship program at Southern Illinois University. He has obtained Diplomate status from the ABOI and Fellow status from the AAID and the ICOI.
For the last decade, Solberg has concentrated his practice to implant dentistry and surgery. Teaching is a true passion, which he does as an adjunct assistant professor for the Prosthodontics Department at the University of Minnesota and through Paragon Implant Academy in Minneapolis.
